Basic Box Wins the First Regional of the 2027 Pokémon Season

Dylan Kasturi won the 2027 Baltimore Pokémon Regional Championships with Basic Box, finishing ahead of Ben Dobberstein’s Hydrapple ex/Meganium. Baltimore was the first Regional of the 2027 season, with over 3,000 Masters players.

Dragapult, to no one's surprise, remained the field’s main deck family. Between its plain, Dusknoir and Blaziken versions, the decks accounted for about 30% of the analyzed lists. The core Dragapult archetype alone was 18.4% of the field and placed two players in the Top 8.

Basic Box made up only 5.7% of lists, but it converted 26% of its players to Day 2, above the field average of 17.9%. It also claimed three Top 8 spots, the most of any single archetype, with Kasturi taking the title.

Dragapult is still the deck to prepare for, but Baltimore’s opener showed that Basic Box can turn a smaller share of the field into a serious championship threat.
