Card Spotlight: Character Requests from the Upcoming EB01 Set

Gundam Card Game’s Eternal Nexus is based on SD Gundam G Generation Eternal, and Character Requests is a neat nod to the mobile game. In G Generation Eternal, there is a “Request” section where characters ask players to complete different tasks, and this card pulls directly from that idea.

As a card, Character Requests is a blue Command with Burst: Draw 1. Its main effect can draw 2, but only if there are six or more rested Units in play. That condition asks for a lot, so this is not as clean as the format’s best draw cards like A Show of Resolve or Overflowing Affection.

Still, draw is draw, and having a Burst effect makes the card more interesting. Like Armed Intervention and Privileged Position, Character Requests can still do something when it comes out of shields, which is always a nice bonus for cards that might otherwise feel a little situational.

The main question is whether blue decks can reliably hit the six-rested-Units condition without already being in a board state where they are ahead. If they can, Character Requests becomes a cheap way to keep cards flowing. If not, it may end up as more of a flexible filler option than a staple.

Either way, it is the kind of card that is easy to test. It probably is not replacing the best draw options, but a low-cost Command with Burst is always welcome.
