Dragapult ex Dominates Day 1 as Brent Tonisson Leads Worlds
Brent Tonisson is the only undefeated player after Day 1 of the 2026 Pokémon TCG World Championship, where Dragapult ex made up 42.9% of the Masters field.
Day 1 of the 2026 Pokémon TCG World Championship is now complete, and Australia's Brent Tonisson is the only Masters player left with a perfect record. He finished 8-0 after beating Calvin Connor at the top table in round 8.
Three players are behind him at 7-0-1: Henry Chao, Rune Heiremans, and Tianyi Rong. Tonisson is not a surprise name at the top. He has six Regional wins on his resume and a strong 2026, with a 3rd place finish at Sydney and an 11th at EUIC London. Heiremans brings a Frankfurt Regional title from September 2025. Decklists aren’t public yet, so other than what was shown on stream, we don’t know for sure what they’re playing.
The deck distribution data, published by Pokémon TCG, has Dragapult ex at 42.9% of the field, more than four times the share of the following deck, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex / Lillie's Clefairy ex at 10.6%.
The complete event has 12 Swiss rounds. Day 1 covers rounds 1 through 8 and Day 2, rounds 9 through 12. Players who finished with two losses or better advance, and the current unofficial standings show that 178 players (22%) will continue playing tomorrow. Four more rounds decide who makes the top cut, and the question we want to know is whether Dragapult will make it there.
