Gundam's Newtype Challenge 5 and GD06 Release Events Are Coming
Newtype Challenge 5 and the GD06 Release Event give Gundam Card Game players two ways to compete around the launch of Stardust Trails.
Gundam Card Game has two store-event tracks arriving around the launch of Stardust Trails [GD06]: Newtype Challenge 2026 Mission 5 and the GD06 Booster Pack Release Event.
Newtype Challenge 5 is the next round of Bandai's recurring competitive shop series. The Asia-English event page lists the Mission 5 window as November 8, 2026 through January 7, 2027, with events held at participating stores. Each store can run Swiss rounds or a tournament, and the capacity is 32 players. If more players apply, Bandai says the store may use a lottery.
Mission 5 also brings a new set of parallel promos. The winner receives GD05-049 Sazabi, the top eight receive GD05-093 Char Aznable, and every participant who completes the event receives GD05-057 Gyunei's Jagd Doga. Applications go through BANDAI TCG+, so players should check the Mission 5 listing and their local store for the exact date, entry rules, and tournament structure.
The GD06 Release Event is a different kind of tournament. It runs from October 30 through November 8, although Bandai notes that some stores may start later because of shipping. Players open four Stardust Trails booster packs and build an exact 30-card deck. There are no color restrictions, and players can include any number of cards with the same card number. The winner receives an additional set of GD06-029 Elpeo Ple's Qubeley Mk-II and GD06-084 Elpeo Ple promo cards.
Here are the two official winner promos:
Both events require registration through BANDAI TCG+. The GD06 event is the quick way to try the new set in a limited format, while Newtype Challenge 5 gives players a longer window to compete for Mission 5 promos in a more familiar store-tournament setting. Check the official GD06 Release Event page for participating stores and local details.
