Pitch Black has only been around for a few weeks, but Grimmsnarl Froslass players have already made room for Gwynn.

Gwynn, a trainer that debuted in last year's Pokémon Legends Z-A videogame, appeared in 23.7% of tracked Grimmsnarl Froslass lists in its first post-release week. That climbed to 77% the following week, then 88% for the week ending August 3. Players are averaging 2.1 copies, so this is clearly a sign the card found its place in the deck.

Pokégear 3.0 has risen alongside it. It was in fewer than 14% of lists before Pitch Black, then climbed to 34.8% and now 60.5%. Most players are using a single copy, suggesting it is becoming a flexible consistency slot rather than a central part of the deck.

The broader list changed with them. Fourteen cards moved in or out of the tracked Grimmsnarl Froslass builds from July 27 to August 3. That's something you'd expect after a new set: players try fresh support, discard older options, and work out which version holds together best.

Pitch Black is having that effect across the format, not just here. Eighteen archetypes had eight or more cards change in the same week, including Alakazam Dudunsparce and Manectric Eelektrik. Grimmsnarl Froslass is simply one of the most noticeable examples.
