One Piece Card Game Reveals OP17, The World’s Strongest Warriors
OP17 introduces new Luffy and Edward.Newgate Leaders, alongside an Elbaph Loki designed to become a massive 12-cost Blocker.
One Piece Card Game has announced its next main set, OP17: The World’s Strongest Warriors, releasing on August 22. Details are still limited, but the first cards already point toward new support for Elbaph and the Whitebeard Pirates.
The new black Monkey.D.Luffy is a 5000-power Leader with 5 Life and the Elbaph, Four Emperors, and Straw Hat Crew types.
All of your Characters with a cost of 12 or more gain Blocker.
That effect suggests a deck built around increasing Character costs and turning large bodies into an defensive board.
Joining Luffy, is Loki, a black 6-cost, 8000-power Character with the Giant and Elbaph types.
This Character gains + 12 cost, and if it is your opponent's turn, this Character gains +3000 power. [On Play]: K.O your opponent's Characters with a total cost of 4 or less.
Once Loki reaches cost 12, it becomes an 11,000-power Blocker under Luffy. Its On Play effect also gives the deck a way to clear several smaller Characters at once.
The set also introduces a new red Edward.Newgate, a 5000-power Leader with 5 Life and the Four Emperors and Whitebeard Pirates types.
[On Your Opponent's Attack] [Once Per Turn] You may trash 1 card from your hand: Up to 1 Leader or Characters gains +4000 power during this battle.
It is a straightforward defensive effect, but an extra 4000 power can make combat awkward and force the opponent to commit more cards when attacking.
There is still plenty left to reveal, but OP17 is already giving two major One Piece factions a new direction.
The World’s Strongest Warriors releases on August 22.
