Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond Set 8: Everything We Know About Chronicle of Destiny

Cygames revealed the eighth Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond card set, Chronicle of Destiny, during Shadowverse Fest. It releases following maintenance on June 29 and brings back several familiar characters from the original Shadowverse story.

The set contains 78 new cards, two regular exchange tickets, two limited-time summer exchange tickets, and three fully animated cards. Its arrival will also rotate Infinity Evolved out of Standard, making this an especially important release for the competitive game since a lot of staple cards will be gone.

The main theme is companionship and continuing the stories of characters from previous worlds. Seven paired Legendary cards have been introduced:

  • Forestcraft: Setus & Maisha, Bladerights
  • Swordcraft: Bunny & Baron, Fate’s Bullet
  • Runecraft: Tetra & Ladica, Forest BFFs
  • Dragoncraft: Drache & Aluzard, Burning Blood
  • Abysscraft: Itsurugi & Taketsumi, Brothers
  • Havencraft: Verdilia & Castelle, Sisters
  • Portalcraft: Asher & Lydia, Paths Beyond

Their abilities have not been revealed yet, but four other Legendary cards are already available on the official card page. And one of them is an absolute monster:

Alabaster Bahamut is a 9-cost Neutral follower with 13/13 stats. Its Fanfare lets the player choose one of three effects: banish every other follower, banish every amulet, or banish every crest. .

Yes, banish every single crest! Not what Haven Craft wants to hear. Today, the game has no direct way to remove crests, and Alabaster Bahamut will provide each class with an expensive but direct answer. It will also be one of the set’s three fully animated cards, which look very dramatic and powerful.

Runecraft receives Ginger, Disastrous Word, a 7-cost 5/5 that summons two Guardian Golems. Whenever another allied follower enters the field, Ginger gives it Rush and spellboosts the player’s hand. Evolving Ginger summons another Guardian Golem, potentially creating a very full board of Wards.

Lumiore & Argente, Shining Wings is an 8-cost Dragoncraft follower with 6/6 stats. Its Fanfare discards two selected cards to deal 4 damage to every enemy, while Super-Evolving draws three cards. It has a 3-cost Accelerate that gives 1 max play point.

Portalcraft’s first reveal is Eudie, Your Dependable Mentor, a 2-cost 2/2. Its Fanfare adds an Analyzing Artifact to the player’s hand, and evolving Eudie can evolve another allied follower. Artifact Portalcraft is losing important cards such as Artifact Catapult and Flight of Icarus in the rotation, so new support is welcome.

As with previous releases, players will be able to choose one free deck. This time, however, all seven classes will be available as options.

The set also includes a regular exchange ticket for Lumiore and limited-time summer exchange tickets for Lilanthim and Eudie. The summer tickets will remain available in packs until the late-July maintenance.

Other additions include:

  • A new Esperanza story chapter
  • A new Battle Dungeon
  • Battle Pass Season 13, featuring a Mirallia Leader
  • Card styles based on the eight original Shadowverse heroes
  • Three new battle tutorials and guided puzzles
  • A Japanese Shadowverse: Evolve Lishenna promo giveaway
  • New avatar clothing and several shop improvements

There is still plenty left to reveal, and that's of course the new cards. With Infinity Evolved rotating at the same time, every new card could matter more than usual.

Chronicle of Destiny releases on June 29.
